Rare Ibadan release from Joe Claussell finally sees the light again!
Joe is one of those artists who prefers to let his music do the talking. Rightfully so as his music isn't just talking, it is whispering the sweetest things you have ever heard into you ear. Joe, is a staple with the Ibadan camp, which is hosts many of New York City's greatest producers, making it well deserving of Joe's dazzling productions.
Matteens Theme graces the A-Side with easily one of the most intricately composed records of the Ibadan catalog. Joe slowly morphs a piano solo into a dream of tribal House beats with echoes of flutes, clarinets, electronic pianos and funk guitars all taking turns promenading with the deep thud of the kick drum and organic percussion.
Polo's Play on the B-Side uses many of the same elements but with a reverse arrangement. Initiating the track is a funky bass guitar emitting an extended loop. A bright and crisp piano enters stage right and takes the show away.
Joe is more than just a talented producer, he is an extremely gifted composer as well. Only someone with a true passion for music, melodies, rhythm and harmony could pull of such an elegant piece of high-class House. An essential release, for almost any music collection.
I really really hate having to choose between the two here, but this one is slightly more peak hour cuz it bumps harder. The project in its entirety has packed sweaty dance floor written ALL OVER IT though, FOR REAL. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ DJ V From CHICAGO
